Light performance

Traced through this exact stone's facets, the way an ASET scope shows a real one. Red is light from 45 to 75° above, the brightest. Green is from lower down, dimmer. Blue is your own head's shadow, the contrast that makes it sparkle. White is light leaking out the back. A well-cut stone is mostly red, with an even blue pattern and little white. Stone only; the setting is left out.

Figures are 50% above online-retailer prices (October 2026) as a budgeting cushion. Lab diamond assumes IGI or GIA, G–H color, VS2 or better, excellent cut. Setting figures follow Blue Nile and James Allen list prices for comparable designs. Sapphires are natural, heated. A local jeweler building it custom often lands in the same range.

Metal & making

Weight is measured from the 3D model, using the densities in Stuller's casting table (platinum as 950 platinum-iridium). Allow about 10% either way for finishing and stone seats. Checks use common casting minimums: walls of 0.6–0.8 mm, prongs cast as rods at 0.8 mm or more, claws and bezel lips at 0.5 mm or more. Your caster has the final say.

Send to a jeweler

An STL file of the ring at true size in millimetres, which any jewelry CAD program opens (Matrix, RhinoGold, Blender). The plain file is the metal alone. The other adds every stone in its seat, for checking fit. A CAD designer still finishes it before casting: joining the parts, checking wall thickness, adding sprues.

Everything is modeled to scale in millimetres. Stone size comes from each shape's standard weight formula and depth, so a 3 ct oval and a 3 ct emerald show their real face-up difference. The render is a design guide, not a product photo.
