Cedar Ridge offers wooded hillside lots and custom homes, while Highview offers newer townhomes and condos with skyline views. Both have their own character; the right choice depends on the kind of home, outdoor space and daily routine you want.
Homes and lots
Cedar Ridge: Contemporary, mid-century modern and traditional custom homes sit on lots of an acre or more, many with decks, walls of glass and long driveways. Hillside sites often mean multi-level floor plans and walk-out lower levels.
Highview: Mid-rise condominiums, townhomes with attached garages and a few loft-style conversions make up most of the inventory. Floor plans are open, finishes are current and many buildings include elevators, fitness rooms and secured parking.
Things to do
Cedar Ridge: The Ridge Preserve has a network of hiking paths and an overlook popular at sunrise. A small village center near the base of the hill has a market, a coffee shop and a fitness studio.
Highview: Highview Plaza has an outdoor screen for summer movies, a rotating food-truck night and a small rooftop garden open to residents. Dining and nightlife are concentrated along Orchard Ln.
Getting around
Cedar Ridge: Hilly roads make most errands a short drive; a commuter bus runs from the base of the hill to downtown. Winter weather can affect steep driveways, so ask about plowing and gravel.
Highview: Highview is a short ride from downtown by bus or bike, with a rail stop at its southern edge. Many buildings offer bike storage.
What to check before buying
Cedar Ridge: Review the septic or sewer connection, retaining walls and roof condition, and have the driveway grade evaluated. Views and tree cover are part of the value, so ask about tree-removal rules and any easements.
Highview: Request the association budget, reserve study and meeting minutes early, and compare monthly dues in the context of what they cover. Ask how parking is assigned and whether storage is deeded or leased.
